Disasters are an ever-present concern in Oklahoma. In response to 2013’s storms, the Oklahoma Conference of Churches recognized the vital role of faith communities in addressing the disaster-related emotional and spiritual needs of our state and launched a disaster-related Emotional and Spiritual Care Ministry. Disaster Spiritual Care Providers offer emotional and spiritual care and support from a faith-based perspective to disaster-affected populations and responders. We come from diverse cultural and spiritual backgrounds to provide sensitive, appropriate care, nurturing and encouraging the spiritual as a source of strength in difficult times.
OCC has credentialed more than 150 individuals representing over 32 denominations and interfaith groups, plus non-denominational churches. All of OCC’s training is in compliance with National VOAD’s Disaster Spiritual Care Points of Consensus and Guidelines.

We are well on our way to building something quite unique and I hope you will join us. Please feel free to call or e-mail me if you have questions.
